Snowed in...

We got about 6 inches of snow...crazy! It only took about 45 minutes of 'prep work' to actually get outside! Then took about 2 minutes for Carrigan to decide she had enough :) The bigs kids (including daddy) even went sledding. It was super cold- 22 degrees.

my life in pictures...

We still aren't sure what happened last week, seems everything happened so quickly. Thursday we took Carrigan to her pediatrician for this dry cough and high fever that started Wednesday night. (Disclaimer: I usually don't rush my children to the doctor, but we knew her oxygen levels were low!) She was diagnosed with bilateral ear infections and bilateral pneumonia. She actually seemed to be acting pretty well. Friday morning she woke- up and just didn't feel good, high fever 103.1 and moaning. By lunch time she had laid on the couch for 2 hours without moving and refused to eat or drink anything. We took her back to the pediatrician where they thought it would be a good idea to give some IV fluids. She was so dehydrated that they were unable to get an IV and we were sent to the hospital. Her temperature there was 104.5! They quickly gor her situated and noticed that her oxygen levels were getting lower. After some oxygen they stabilized. Since picture speak 1000 words...

Finally sitting up and feeling a little better!

Her pacifier actually held the oxgen in her nose. Never thought we'd be thankful for letting her keep the pacy this long!

When you are eating french fries you are always on the mend :)

As of Sunday morning she has been weaned off the oxygen. Her oxygen levels are still a little low, but better. She still has IV fluids and oxygen levels are being monitored continously. Hopefully tomorrow she will be released... what a trying time!

January update..

Great pic of 'my boys'!

Yes, due to the extreme cold blast Jake is back inside. I am not sure who is more happy about it! In fact, I think Jake has even resulted to faking an injury. It seems every time he is inside he looks at us with these sad eyes and limps on his right front paw. When he's outside he is running around like a crazy dog! Hmmm...?

Carson has suffered yet another peritonsillar abcess, 2nd since Thanksgiving! After a consult with an ENT he will have his tonsils out on friday. We are all very nervous, but feel it is the best plan. Luckily our schools are out Monday, Thursday and Friday of next week. Our doc told us to expect him to be out for a week! We have our fridge (and freezer) stocked with ice cream, apple sauce, yogurts and pudding. You name... we have it!

The girls are fantastic! Carrigan has learned to give hugs and has to hug everyone. So far nobody seems to mind! She's not only walking, but running and pushing and throwing! (she too likes jake being in the house!) And she wouldn't be a Michael if she wasn't a picky eater. Her foods of choice now are bananas, chicken, yogurt, chicken, chocolate chip cookies and... chicken!

We think she is mocking Carson who ALWAYS has his nose in book! He is now 264% of his reading goal and on his 'leveled' reading book...well they don't have any harder books. He has completed all of them! Smart boy!

The quest for a family photo...

Probably one of the biggest reasons I started taking pictures was because I have never been happy with our family pictures. Here is another year to add to the 'list'. They are getting better, but it seems this year Carrigan thought her backside was her best side. Besides, it was only 26 degrees outside!
